This is the perfect basket for guacamole.  The apples have gotten really expensive.  So we are only getting one case and it had to be fuji.  Also, he is out of peas and peaches.  Hope you all enjoy!!

Once again, I love that we vote, because it makes my job of ordering SO much easier.  We were able to get what majority wanted again.  The peaches and nectarines were added at last minute because they were such a good price.  This is our first time ordering those so we'll have to see how they taste :-)  We were not able to get peas because of all the flooding.

5-11-11 Basket

This basket will be perfect to make some yummy guacamole for all you guacamole lovers :-)  Hope you all enjoy it this week.  I didn't get oranges this week because they have seeds in them this week and they were really green.  

Yesterday's Basket

Wow! Didn't we have an awesome basket yesterday?! The blackberries were an extra add-on the day of delivery for way super cheap. Hope you all enjoy the yummy variety of fresh produce of a huge basket!

As for a couple of matters of business:

Let us know if you have any friends or people you might know that would like to participate in the co-op. As soon as we have 36 participants, we will open up the co-op for that many baskets.

Also, for those of you who order bread... we are working out some of the kinks that we have run across in the bread department. Right now, as some of you may know, we have had some issues with delivery timeliness and also availability of bread anticipated and what actually gets delivered.  We will let you know what we decide to do with this from here on out. Let us know if you have any feedback as we are in the decision making process of continuing with this portion of the co-op.

Next basket

Ladies!!!!  I have some great news (well I think it is great.)  This week we are going to be able to get 1 lb. strawberries, cantaloupes, and pineapples for 0.99 cents EACH.  Awesome price for strawberries, as you know.  When we have a great price on a produce item, I will let you know in case you want to order EXTRA for your OWN basket.  Either leave me a comment or send an email and let us know if you want EXTRA of any of those 3 items.  Please vote on the basket selection. The poll will close on Sunday night.  Also IF raspberries aren't too pricey we MAY be able to get those for this next basket. Fingers crossed.

I would have loved to have got tomatoes and Red raspberries but they are just too expensive.  He said that the price of berries keep going up, by the week. See you all tomorrow.

Basket 3/30

This post is a little on the late side.  From now on I will be posting what we are going to be getting in our baskets the day before co-op.  That way you can plan your shopping or meals for the rest of the week :-)  I think our first co-op went really well.  We had 4 great helpers that help us sort the basket and they got to take home a couple of extra items :-) Reminder....IF you are one of the 4 helpers, then you get any extra produce.

In our first basket we got: Bell Peppers, Gold Delicious, Fuji apples, oranges, broccoli, green leaf lettuce, onions, bananas, grapefruit, strawberries, carrots, kiwi, celery, mushrooms.

Not too bad right?  I will be putting up the voting poll with in the next day for our April 13th basket.  Watch for the poll to change.

Now that we know the (approximate) delivery time, we can set up a pick-up time.  You can pick-up your basket the day of the co-op from 10:00-11:00am.  IF you can NOT pick up your basket at that time due to work or some other reason, then you can pick-up your basket from 5:00-6:00pm.  IF neither one of those times work for you then maybe you can have someone pick-up the basket for you.  There are a few ladies in the co-op that actually are going to be doing this....just make sure you give them your payment.

First Basket

Welcome to the Stoncreek Co-op blog. This blog is set up for reminders and a way to get everyone involved in the produce we get in our baskets! You will see there is a place to vote on the right. Please vote for whatever you'd like to see and we'll do our best to get it. We can not promise you that you'll see it. We only buy produce that is in season and a good price. You'll notice that under certain categories (like apples, etc.) it only says "apples" and not fuji, gala, red delicious, for example.  But please, in the comment section, let us know what specific breeds you like of the particular produce. That way we can get an idea.  Thanks!
